London Skolars went down 8 – 52 against National League 1 opposition Leigh Centurions in their opening Northern Rail Cup game at New River Stadium on Sunday.
Although Skolars were overpowered by a Leigh side containing plenty of Super League experience, who will be one of the favourites for NL1. The home side can take plenty of encouragement from a game played in difficult conditions, in which they never gave-up and were rewarded with two late tries from loose forward Lydon Mautia and fullback Ashley Tozer.
Skolars will be hoping for a stronger showing in their next Group 6 game away to fellow NL2 outfil Celtic Crusaders in Bridgend this coming Sunday.
