Quins RL opener in doubt

Fans travelling up from London to watch Quins RL take on St Helens at Knowsley Road tomorrow have been warned that the game may not proceed due to the poor weather currently sweeping the country.

The attention will not only be on the state of the pitch, which does not have under-soil heating, but also on the state of the antiquated terracing which makes up most of the Knowsley Road ground.

A postponement would be a blow to both sides. St Helens could do without the fixture congestion having been allowed to kick-off their Super League season a week early in order to fit in the Carnegie World Club Challenge match against Brisbane Broncos on the 24th February. Quins on the other hand are unlikely to find a better time to play St Helens at home, the reigning champions made hard work of a stop-start match at Huddersfield in their opening fixture and will be missing a handful of internationals to injury and suspensions.

Supporters making the trip are recommended to check with Quins RL before travelling.
