South London Storm search for new blood

The capital’s top amateur club South London Storm have announced plans for a “meet and greet” recruitment night on Thursday 22nd February at the Balham Tup. The club are interested in recruiting players of all standards as well as volunteers who can help out with the administration and behind the scenes activities that are crucial to any amateur sports organisation.

Last season the Storm swept all before them with the first team winning both the RLC Premier South and the Harry Jepson trophy for winning the competition outright, the second team also took the honours in the London Amateur Rugby League competition. A brief appearance in this season’s Challenge Cup competition came too soon for the Storm who were still in the off season when they lost a tough encounter to Thornhill last weekend, but they can be expected to challenge for honours again this season when the RLC Premier and London League competitions resume.

Open age training is expected to start again in late February, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the club’s base in
Thornton Heath, all are welcome to attend.

For those looking to get their kids involved in Rugby League the club is also keen to attract newcomers to the
four junior clubs it operates in the South London area; Croydon Hurricanes, Brixton Bulls, Thornton Heath Tornadoes and Addington Lightning.
