Skolars overrun by Vikings

London Skolars continued their poor run in the Northern Rail Cup going down 60 – 10 away at Widnes Vikings yesterday. It was always going to be a big ask for the Skolars to step up a division to play a Vikings side packed with Super League experience who are expected to be one of the favourites for the National League One title this year.

It was the Skolars who opened the scoring through a Lydan Maitua try after two minutes but the Vikings pulled level five minutes later and from that point onwards the result never looked in doubt. The Skolars can take heart for a determined and well organised performance; their performances against higher division opponents in the Northern Rail Cup have shown that they do have the potential to be competitive in National League Two this season.
